Hermes Datacomms Middle East Appoints Country Manager and Head of Security and Operations
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 24, 2011 - Hermes Datacomms Middle East, a key specialist providing Wide Area Network communications to the upstream oil and gas industry has appointed Saif Al-Azzawi as Country Manager of their Iraq operations, and Nigel Green as Head of Security and Operations for the Middle East.
Al-Azzawi has worked in the telecommunications industry for the past 8 years. He brings with him a wealth of experience in technology, project management, sales, logistics and account management. Prior to joining Hermes, Al-Azzawi worked as a Country Manager on IT and Telecommunications projects in the UAE, Iraq and Syria. His substantial client portfolio includes the likes of IIFCO, MTN, Syria Telecom and Zain Iraq.
Al-Azzawi has worked for multinational companies including Cisco and Telecom –IRAQNA, as well as local companies such as Al-Fahad. In 2003, he was heavily involved in the establishment of one of the first ISP companies in Iraq, at a time when resources were few and far between. The company, namely HRINS is now one of the biggest ISPs in Iraq.
In this new role, Al-Azzawi will be responsible for establishing and managing the Hermes Datacomms Middle East offices in Iraq. His day to day duties will include managing the sales and technical teams; and handling all aspect s of logistics, VSAT licensing and so on. Additionally, Al-Azzawi will focus on expanding the company to best suit Iraq’s market requirements.

Nigel Green has proved himself a huge asset to Hermes Datacomms over the last three years having successfully managed some of Hermes most prestigious client accounts and initiated various executive operations within the organisation. In his new role as Head of Security and Operations, he will be responsible for the security of all Hermes personnel within the Middle East. He will implement audits on security companies, organise accommodation and methods of transport; and liaise with client security companies, while Hermes Datacomms are supporting their projects. Furthermore, Green will be responsible for providing Middle East security reviews and reports, and will execute disaster recovery and business continuity planning to ensure Hermes Datacomms can operate in the unlikely event of a major outage at their sites.
Having previously worked for the Middle East private security company Olive Group; and given his military background in supporting classified operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Green has an in-depth and first hand understanding of the procedures and the extreme importance of security.
