BACKGROUND

KBR were using a shared VSAT network for their operation in Basra. This setup was not meeting their requirements and was significantly impacting on operations. KBR came to Hermes for assistance in providing them with a VSAT connection back to their UK head office in Leatherhead.

PROJECT

KBR supplied a Hermes Technical Project Manager with their data requirements within Basra to allow for the design and quote of the proposed solution.

• Developed a solution to provide KBR with a VSAT network that would meet all of their data requirements within the remote site.
• Provided a flexible solution depending on potential future upgrade requirements.
• Agreed strict SLA's to ensure maximum uptime of the VSAT link.
• 24/7 network monitoring and point of contact for any network queries or requests.
• Inclusion of Out of Band management to allow for remote diagnosis and remote repair (if feasible) of the network.
• Assigned an Account Manager to provide advice and support as and when required.
• Monthly reports showing link usage and recommendations whilst providing information on priority fault tickets.
• Arranged logistics with the support of KBR.
• Trained and mentored local KBR staff on the use of VSAT equipment including installation and repairs to reduce additional costs.
