Hermes wins contract to design CATV System for ENL on Sakhalin
November 2009
Worley Parsons has awarded the contract to Hermes to design a CATV Entertainment System for the Arkutun-Dagi offshore platform topsides/drilling rig project, an offshore oil and gas development at Sakhalin Island on the east coast of Russia.
Worley Parsons was recently awarded a contract by Exxon Neftegas Limited (ENL) for engineering, procurement and technical support services for the Arkutun-Dagi offshore platform topsides/drilling rig at Sakhalin Island. This will be one of the largest floatover platforms in the world.
The contract awarded to Hermes to design a CATV Entertainment System is being undertaken by Hermes Moscow engineering team with support from Hermes Yuzhno, UK and USA offices.
Natalia Alexeeva, Senior Account Manager, Russia, boasts "we are confident that Hermes was chosen to undertake this project for Worley Parsons because we have the knowledge and experience of designing these particular systems. Hermes has successfully designed, procured and installed a number of similar systems in Sakhalin since 2004".
The Arkutun-Dagi field is one of the three offshore fields to be developed by the Sakhalin-1 project, which when combined with the Chayvo and Odoptu fields, has recoverable reserves of 2.3 billion barrels of oil and 17.1 trillion cubic feet of gas. Arkutun-Dagi is located approximately 15.5 miles east of the Chayvo Field offshore Sakhalin Island.
Sakhalin is a remote, sparsely populated area off the icy seas of Okhotsk, part of the Western Pacific Ocean and working conditions are challenging due to the extreme weather conditions.
