The coverage will be for our client's offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico as well as its land rigs in Mexico and Columbia. This contract is in addition to the support we currently provide our client in Kazakhstan, Algeria and Russia.

Gabon-West Central Africa. Another new area for Hermes.

February 2009

Our engineer flew out to Gabon to complete a site survey to investigate whether we can provide brand new links for an existing customer who has a new site in the jungle in Gabon. The site is remote and surrounded by jungle on all sides. Due to the challenging location, our customer currently has no options for broadband links, MPLS or leased lines.

Hermes has investigated various options including installing our own satellite or sharing an existing satellite owned by another provider on the site, a leased line option or providing wireless options using a local broadband provider.

Due to the location, we are unable to provide a leased line option as there is currently no fibre laid within this area that Hermes could tap into.

Hermes has now submitted a survey report to our customer for consideration which recommends that we install a wireless broadband link provided by the local provider 'Solsi Communications'. We propose to provide 2 wireless broadband links at the main office and 1 wireless broadband link for the employee accommodation area.

Hermes is very excited about expanding into yet another new area and we are looking forward to providing excellent communication facilities within this area. Watch our news and events section for further updates on how we complete this project.
